The DeWitt Farmers Market brings freshness to the community every Thursday. There's a whole variety of small businesses. People sell homemade products, bread, fresh produce, jewelry, and more. The DeWitt Farmers Market begins outside on May 1 to October 30, 2025 .
Along with all of the goods that are sold at the farmers market, there are also food trucks. This year there will be the DeWitt Nite Lions and Chuckies & Cindy's Tropical Shaved Ice. As usual, the market will be held at Lincoln Park and will be open from 3:30 to 6:30pm.
If you want to sell stuff at your very own booth, you can visit the website at the end of this article. Day pass vendors pay $10 dollars per day. They will get booths based on availability and what they sell.
Two people who run booths at the farmers market were interviewed. Taylor Houser sells western jewelry and outfits. Taylor’s shop is called Showstopper Jewelry Co. Hannah Moore sells stuffed animals at the market that she crocheted herself.
Hannah and Taylor were asked if they sell at the market every Thursday, and both of them responded that they don’t sell every Thursday. Taylor said that she tries, but sometimes events come up and she is not able to make it. Hannah stated that it takes a while to make all of her products, so she does not sell every week.
Hannah and Taylor both keep their products pretty affordable, considering how much time they take in preparing them. Hannah stated, “My prices usually factor in how much yarn I use, because I want to make money for myself, but I also want them to be affordable.” Taylor said, “I price each product based on how much the material costs, as well as the time. I try to keep my prices affordable because it will drive up the business factor.”
Each time she sells, Taylor usually has 10-15 customers that buy from her. She said, “My very first time at the farmers market I had no idea what I was doing,” and that over time selling stuff has boosted her confidence a lot and she is able to talk to people a lot better than before.
Hannah said it depends on the day, but usually a lot of people buy from her stand. DeWitt has a lot of families in the community, so most of her customers are families. Hannah started selling in 2023, and she said her first time selling at the market was very scary but it also got easier for her over time. “I've been more confident talking to customers”
Hannah takes months crocheting all of her plushies for the market. Whereas Taylor typically makes jewelry for nine hours a week, she said that's what her goal is. On school days she spends one hour a day and on weekends she spends two hours a day making her products.
Taylor’s advice to someone who may want to get started in the farmers market is to just do it, even if you're on the fence about starting. Hannah’s advice is to “just put yourself out there and try it, you never know what might happen.”
When asked what their most memorable customer experience was, Hannah said it was when someone came to buy little crochet fidgets she made. “I think it was a second grade teacher, but she bought all of them.” She said the teacher bought them for her students, and that was her most favorite experience.
Taylor’s most memorable experience was when her cousin gave her beads made out of rose seeds grown in her garden. “I had a customer whose grandma's name was Rose and to remember her she wanted a bracelet made out of the rose seeds.”
