The CDHS Choirs had their annual Pop Show on Monday, March 31st, 2025. Featuring 40 acts, there were performances from all the choirs, including small groups and "pass-throughs". Selections included various songs and mashups from all different eras and styles of music. There were also a few multi-choir performances during the show. These were groups such as “Men In Tights” and “The Greatest Show”.
This year’s pass-throughs included a variety of materials, genres, and groups. These range from 30 seconds to 3 minutes, and they can be a small group, duet, or solo.

One reappearing group was Kelton Collins as ‘Rose’ and Ben Uttech as ‘Jack, ’ with "My Heart Will Go On" from The Titanic film being played by Brady Herington on various instruments and interpretive recreations of iconic scenes from the film (pictured right).
There were also 2 selections with a live band setup. These were "Stacey’s Mom" by Fountains of Wayne, performed by the DewIdiotz; (below)

Andrew Hartley, Matthew Boeding, Abe Vickers, Adam Wilke, and "The Devil Went Down
to Georgia" by the Charlie Daniels Band, with special appearances by Mr. Ryan Uttech, Mrs. Dean on the fiddle,

and Mr. Bob Schwartz as ‘the Devil’ (pictured left).
A mass piece that included all choir members was "The Greatest Show" from ‘The Greatest Showman’. This incorporated 110 students in its almost 4-minute run-time. This song opened the show and closed it out with a reprise at the end. The choreographer was Laura Martens, and the soloists were Matthew Boeding and Onyx Kildow.

Another one of these combined pieces was "Men in Tights" (pictured right) from
‘Robin Hood: Men in Tights’, which was performed by all guys from Bass Clef, Concert, and Chamber choirs. The choreography was by the choir guys.
The Lyrica girls performed "Falling for Ya" from ‘Teen Beach Movie’, with soloist

Emily Sutton, and "Girls Just Wanna Dance" (pictured left), combining Whiney Houston’s "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" and Cyndi Lauper’s "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". Choreographers for the dances included Izzy VanDerGinst, Melanie Miller, Eva House, Ella Taylor, Lena Perrone, and Marie Klostermann.
The Bass Clef guys performed "Shut Up and Dance" by WALK THE MOON and a

jazzy rendition of "Theme from Spiderman" (pictured right) by Michael Bublé. A special appearance was made by Otis, the therapy dog, during Spiderman. Choreographers were Laura Martens and Eva House.
Concert Choir performed "September" by Earth, Wind & Fire, and a "Tribute to Bon

Jovi" medley (pictured left), which included "Livin' on A Prayer", "You Give Love a Bad Name", and "It’s My Life". The choreographers were Laura Martens, Suzie Cox, and Molly Burken.
Chamber Choir members performed various pieces, either together or in guy/girl groups. These were in addition to the songs for other choirs they’re in. The Chamber girls performed "Halo/Sunshine", a mashup of "Halo" by Beyoncé and "Walking on

Sunshine" by Katrina and The Waves. All Chamber singers also did "Love Shack" by the B-52’s (pictured right), and "Cruisin' for a Bruisin", from ‘Teen Beach Movie.’ Choreographers for Chamber were Laura Martens and the Chamber Girls.
Of course, we can’t forget all the set and crew members who helped make the night go smoothly. We’d like to thank Josh Greubel, Ryan Uttech, Shannon Edwards, Brady Herington, Ellie Cagle, Izzy Heitz, Jenny Claussen, Pam Meyer, and Leah Marvin.
If you’d like to see our amazing choirs perform, you can see them at their Spring Concert on May 13th in the CDPAC.
